Snarky Comment

From a web site:

“Many useful academic materials are increasingly available via electronic online access.”

electronic online access? As opposed to, let’s say, “mechanical online access” or “steam-powered online access” or, in deference to the cyberpunks, “direct neural online access”?

Hahaha. I love it. Sadly, I can't count how many times I've seen that in the literature and the web...

Can you imagine, a steam-powered Internet? I'm picturing millions of oompa loompa's underground, turning large crank gears.

btw, this is Michael from "mikey mikey mikey"--I just stumbled across your feed that was buried in my RSS reader of yesteryear.

That comment is so 1990's. :)

Though I just read a blurb about Ebsco and a number of big name periodicals being kind of exclusive all the sudden. I'm losing track now that I'm out of the library. :-/

Oh my goodness! I thought I was alone here. Good thing I didn't post that "True Confessions of a Middle Aged Slacker" tell-all I was working on. Glad to know you both are still alive and (hopefully) well.
